New plastic pallet generates distribution savings

A new type of plastic pallet seems to be able to generate considerable savings in the distribution.

We have recently learnt about a new plastic pallet type with a range of interesting properties for companies with a large distribution flow. The construction of the pallet enables 'inter-stacking'  meaning that the pallets take up less space when stacked empty. It is possible to stack the pallet 26 pallets high as opposed to conventional pallets typically stacked 16 pallets high. 

Advantages of the plast pallet

• A more compact stacking enables reduced return flow
  costs and reduced carbon footprint.
• Possibility to embed RFID-tag – resulting in optimised control of outbound flow and, if applicable, into the customers' warehouses.
• The pallet has runners and can run on automatic systems, which is impossible for many plastic pallets.
• Well-suited for food and where washing of the pallets is required before use.

As the pallet type represents a certain initial investment, it is relevant mostly to companies with a relatively high flow and to those who have their own return logistics.
