Analysis

Insight and overview. The analysis phase creates the base for thorough understanding of the task and identifies relevant key figures.

The current situation is described in terms of efficiency, impact and the strengths and weaknesses in the current logistics.

Future needs are consolidated with the current to form the design basis. This is done through the following activities:

  • Data collection, including specification of necessary data
  • Thorough review of operational procedures, layout and equipment
  • Recording of material and workflow
  • Identification of issues and inconveniences
  • Analysis of key figures: uptime, inventory, operating log, stock, order quantity, ranking, packing, transport volumes, etc.
  • Clarification of expectations for the future scenario, including static and dynamic capacity, range, order structure, customer requirements etc.
  • Sparring and participation in relation to any ongoing Lean projects

The outcome of this phase is summarized in a report that comprehensively and clearly describes the current situation and future needs and determines the design basis of the solution.
